    3DMark Speed Way launches today

    3DMark Speed Way launches today

UL Solutions is excited to announce that our new DirectX 12 Ultimate Benchmark 3DMark Speed Way is now available to download and buy on Steam and on the UL Solutions website. 3DMark Speed Way is sponsored by Lenovo Legion.

Developed with input from AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, and other leading technology companies, Speed Way is an ideal benchmark for comparing the DirectX 12 Ultimate performance of the latest graphics cards.

DirectX 12 Ultimate is the next-generation application programming interface (API) for gaming graphics. It adds powerful new capabilities to DirectX 12, helping game developers improve visual quality, boost frame rates, reduce loading times and create vast, detailed worlds.

3DMark Speed Way’s engine demonstrates what the latest DirectX API brings to ray-traced gaming, using DirectX Raytracing tier 1.1 for real-time global illumination and real-time ray-traced reflections, coupled with new performance optimizations like mesh shaders.

    VS. mode
The new VS. mode lets you see and compare how your PC performs during a Speed Way benchmark run. Add another Speed Way result for comparison and benchmark against friends, 3DMark Hall of Famers, or community members with the latest gaming hardware.

    Interactive mode
Freely explore the Speed Way scene in interactive mode. You can adjust camera focus settings, change the lighting settings and use the built-in capture tool to compare how the latest ray tracing techniques affect visuals.

    Available now
3DMark Speed Way is available now in 3DMark Advanced Edition and 3DMark Professional Edition. Speed Way does not run in 3DMark Basic Edition or the 3DMark Demo on Steam.

To run Speed Way, you’ll need Windows 11 or Windows 10, 64-bit version 21H2 or later. You’ll also need a graphics card with at least 6GB of video memory and drivers that support DirectX 12 Ultimate.

    3DMark Advanced Edition – New price from October 12 – $34.99 (USD)
From October 12 onward, Speed Way will be included in the price when you buy 3DMark from Steam or from the UL Solutions website.

Since Time Spy launched in 2016, 3DMark users have enjoyed many free updates, including Wild Life, the 3DMark CPU Profile, and multiple tests demonstrating new DirectX features. With the addition of Speed Way, the price of 3DMark on Steam and 3DMark Advanced Edition will go up from $29.99 to $34.99.

3DMark Speed Way Upgrade, $4.99 (USD)
If you already own 3DMark on Steam or the 3DMark Advanced Edition, you can unlock Speed Way by purchasing the Speed Way upgrade, available October 12 for $4.99 (USD). You can read more about 3DMark updates and upgrades here.

    3DMark Professional Edition
Speed Way is available as a complimentary update for 3DMark Professional Edition customers with a valid annual license. Customers with an older, perpetual Professional Edition license will need to purchase an annual license to unlock Speed Way.

3DMark Wild Life Extreme—a more demanding cross-platform benchmark

Last year we released 3DMark Wild Life, a cross-platform benchmark for Android, iOS and Windows.

Today we are releasing 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, a more demanding cross-platform benchmark for comparing the graphics performance of mobile computing devices such as Windows notebooks, Always Connected PCs powered by Windows 10 on Arm, Apple Mac computers powered by the M1 chip, and the next generation of smartphones and tablets.

3DMark Wild Life Extreme is available now for Windows, macOS systems powered by Apple M1, iOS and Android.

3DMark Wild Life Extreme—a more demanding cross-platform benchmark

3DMark Wild Life Extreme is a new cross-platform benchmark for Apple, Android and Windows devices. Run Wild Life Extreme to test and compare the graphics performance of the latest Windows notebooks, Always Connected PCs powered by Windows 10 on Arm, Apple Mac computers powered by the M1 chip, and the next generation of smartphones and tablets.

3DMark Wild Life Extreme includes new effects, enhanced geometry and more particles, making it over three times more demanding than the Wild Life benchmark. The test uses a 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) rendering resolution before scaling the content to the display.

Comparison of 3DMark Wild Life and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme benchmarks

Wild Life Extreme uses the Vulkan API on Android and Windows. On iOS and Mac, it uses Metal. On Windows 10 on Arm, it uses DirectX 12. You can compare scores across platforms and across APIs.

Setting the bar for the next generation of mobile devices

3DMark Wild Life Extreme sets a high bar for the next generation of Android and iOS devices. Don’t be surprised if the frame rate is low as the test is too heavy for many current phones and tablets.

Two ways to test GPU performance

3DMark Wild Life Extreme offers two ways to test graphics performance: a quick benchmark that measures instant performance and a longer test that shows how your device performs under longer periods of heavy load.

Run the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme benchmark to measure a device’s ability to provide high performance for short periods. Use the score to compare GPU performance across platforms.

The 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test is a longer test that shows how a device performs under longer periods of heavy load. Instead of producing a single score, the main result from the stress test is a chart showing how your device manages performance and heat during heavy use.

    More than a score

3DMark is a benchmarking app that gives you more than a score. With its detailed charts, lists and rankings, 3DMark gives you deep insights into the performance of Android and iOS devices.

3DMark gives you in-depth insights into the performance of your device

On Windows, 3DMark makes it easy to compare your benchmark score with results from other systems with the same components. 3DMark also helps you relate your 3DMark score to real-world game performance by estimating the frame rate you can expect in a selection of popular games.
